SHERIDANS CHEESEMONGERS are both retailers and wholesalers of quality Irish and other European foods. We are committed to sourcing excellent quality artisan products and where possible forging links directly with the food producers themselves. Many of our farmhouse cheeses and foods are handmade locally in Ireland but we also bring back new and delicious artisan produce from our trips to Europe. Our shops reflect the seasonality of food and we can advise on which cheeses are at their peak at a particular time of year. SHERIDANS CHEESEMONGERS was founded in 1995 by the brothers Seamus and Kevin Sheridan, when they started selling Irish farmhouse cheeses from their stall at the Galway Saturday market. They soon opened their first shop in Galway, with Irish farmhouse cheeses piled from floor to ceiling. The Irish cheeses were joined by their European farmhouse cousins as well as olive oils, cured meats, honeys and many other artisan foods found during their travels in Europe. As the speciality food sector in Ireland grew, so too did SHERIDANS CHEESEMONGERS, opening their distinctive shop on South Anne Street in Dublin City Centre in 1997, followed in 2003 by a smaller shop on Pembroke Lane, off Waterloo Road in Dublin 4. In 1997 the Sheridan Brothers were also joined by a third partner, Fiona Corbett and together were one of the founding stall holders of the now infamous Temple Bar Saturday Market. Continuously focusing on quality and forging close links with producers, SHERIDANS CHEESEMONGERS now wholesale quality foods to some of the best delis, food stores and fine restaurants all over Ireland. In 2007 Sheridans have had the pleasure of joining with Ardkeen Quality Food Store in Waterford resulting in a hugely popular cheese counter within this fine family established supermarket. |
